Intro. To Fire Dancing Intensive


 

The Introduction to Fire Dancing Intensive consists of the material covered in the Beginner Poi, Beginner Dance, Beginner Fire as well as combining material from the Intermediate Performance, Intermediate Moves, Techniques and Intermediate Dance Classes. Details are below:
 
Beginner Poi: This is a six week course instructing beginners in the basics of poi movement and technique.
 
Beginner Dance: This is a four week series offering students more extensive knowledge of how to transition from one move to another, using all the moves learned in the Beginner Poi series.
 
Beginner Fire: This is a four week series offering students the opportunity to build their own fire poi, educate them in fire safety and offers them the opportunity to spin fire.
 
Intermediate Performance: This material offers performers a means of understanding how to construct their performance in a way that is most visually stimulating to the audience and focuses on both theory and practice of the information provided.
 
Intermediate Moves: The material taught from this class will enhance the repertoire of moves performers have to choose from when working with poi.
 
Techniques: Part of this intensive will focus on how students can improve their technique throughout time. This includes exercises, analysis and understanding proper positioning for the moves to work effectively.
 
Intermediate Dance: This portion of the training allows students to follow the leader and understand how to string moves together effectively to form the dance that entrances your audience.

Requirements:

This class is physically demanding. Students will be practicing poi 4-5 hours a day in class, as well as some time on their own. Students should have strong upper body strength and be reasonably fit to sustain their energy through this class.

Pricing:

This class is offered as a 2 week 25 hour intensive for $1300 in San Francisco for solo instruction. A Certified Temple of Poi instructor can also travel on site in your city. Call to schedule dates and times.
